I finally arrived in Matera. I wanted to get there since last summer. The dream came true thanks to my flatmate who accompanied me in the journey. We reached our destination by his car. We spent a few hours there despite torrential rain. This place is unbelievably stunning! There are no words to describe this city.
If the name Matera doesn`t ring you a bell, you should remember that this city is famous for its historical center named the Sassi (the ancient town). This area has been settled since the Palaeolithic, found by the Romans in the 3rd century BC. The city is also signed onto UNESCO list.
Another interesting piece of information might be the fact that the scenes of M.Gibson`s film `the Passion` were shot in Matera.

W końcu przybyłam do Matery. Już od lata myślałam o tym miejscu i chciałam tutaj przybyć. Marzenie się spełniło dzięki mojemu współlokatorowi, który był towarzyszem mojej wycieczki. Dojechaliśmy do celu podróży jego samochodem. Spędziliśmy tam kilka godzin pomimo strasznego deszczu. Miejsce to jest niewyobrażalnie oszałamiające! Nie ma słów, żeby opisać to miasto.
Jeśli nie kojarzysz nazwy Matera, powinieneś zapamiętać, że to miasto znane jest z jego historycznego centrum zwanego Sassi (starożytne miasto). Obszar ten jest zamieszkiwany od epoki kamienia łupanego, założone przez Rzymian w 3 w.p.n.e. Miasto widnieje też na liście UNESCO.
Kolejną ciekawostką jest to, że sceny do filmu "Pasja" M.Gibsona były kręcone w Materze.
