The
Unibastore staff together with friends went
for a trip to Castelmezzano. Shortly before reaching our destination, a herd of cattle blocked
the way. It was an unfamiliar sight for me, especially because of the fact that
the road was terribly winding. It is very probable to lose control of the
steering wheel. Almost everyone sitting in the car said “Oo curva!” a few times. Of course, Polish meaning of this word is different. Look below:

kurwa (pl.)
= bitch (eng.) = puttana (it.)
But let`s
come back to the core subject :- ) Castelmezzano is delightfully situated

Aside from the fact that I did not wear comfortable shoes for the trip (next time I am going to be better-organised), I was lugging a seventeen-inch laptop and the rest of photo equipment in case it was useful. I must admit that it was heavy, but luckily, my friends helped me to carry this staff. We managed to get quite high in the mountains despite difficult landform features. It is good to have so many helpful friends around, isn`t it? :-)
I should write a few sentences about the background of Castelmezzano. So, its origins date back to approximately between the 6th and 5th centuries BC. At the moment it is the province of Potenza and it is inhabited by 970 people, hence they know each other. Interestingly, when you visit this place, you should greet passers-by with a cheerful smile and say something (Salve, Ciao, Buon giorno, etc. - depending on the time of the day). Otherwise, you may be considered as a filthy pig :P
It is hard to come across cars, particularly in the heart of the town. You may see only three-wheeled vehicles. It was a close shave and we would be knocked down by one of them (I`ve got the movie!) The town is charming, not only because of the views and typical narrow Italian streets, but also because of the wisps of smoke mixing together with smells of cooking. It is impossible to describe it, the only way to feel it is to visit this particular place.
It would be
an inexcusable deed if I did not say anything about the main touristic attraction. It is the so-called flight over the valley spreading between two towns, Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa. What a pity that now it is impossible to buy a ticket for it. The season starts in April and ends by the end of September. Thus, it is a must to come back during the season and experience it firsthand. I`ll try this! It will be an unforgettable activity full of breathtaking views!

W weekend załoga Unibastore wraz z przyjaciółmi wybrała się w podróż do Castelmezzano. Po drodze przejazd zablokowało nam stado bydła. Dość nietypowa sytuacja, w szczególności, że wychodząc z jednego zakrętu, wchodzi się w drugi. O wypadek tutaj nie problem. W samochodzie co chwilę było słychać "Oo curva!" (jak wiadomo, polskie znaczenie tego słowa jest inne, czego tłumaczyć nie trzeba :P ). Kraina jest nieziemsko malownicza. Pomijając fakt, że nie miałam odpowiedniego obuwia (na
drugi raz będę bardziej zorganizowana), tachałam ze sobą 17`` laptopa i
resztę sprzętu foto na wypadek gdyby się przydał. Trochę się
nadźwigałam, zwłaszcza, że różnica poziomów jest naprawdę odczuwalna.
Mimo wszystko, zdołaliśmy dojść dość wysoko z tym całym balastem.
Uczestnicy wyprawy pomagali mi nieść torbę. Jak dobrze jest mieć tak
pomocne osoby dookoła! :-)
Wypadałoby chociaż co nieco napisać o miasteczku Castelmezzano. Otóż powstało ono na przełomie piątego i szóstego w. p.n.e., obecnie jest prowincją Potenzy i zamieszkuje je niespełna 970 osób. Ze względu na taką małą liczbę mieszkańców, wszyscy się znają. Co ciekawe, będąc tutaj należy się witać z każdą napotkaną osobą, w przeciwnym razie nasze zachowanie może być odebrane jako gburowatość.
Samochodów w samym centrum miasteczka raczej się nie spotka, ewentualnie trzykołowe bryczki. Dużo nie brakowało i jedna z nich by nas rozjechała (Udało mi się nagrać filmik). Miasteczko ma swój urok nie tylko ze względu na widoki, typowe wąskie włoskie uliczki, ale również dym z kominków łączący się z zapachami z kuchni. Ciężko znaleźć słowa, by to opisać, trzeba po prostu tutaj przyjechać by to poczuć.
Grzechem byłoby nie wspomnieć o głównej rozrywce turystycznej, którą jest "lot nad doliną" między dwoma miasteczkami - Castelmezzano i Pietrapertosa. Szkoda, że teraz nie można kupić biletu na przejażdżkę, gdyż sezon trwa od kwietnia do końca września. Zatem powrócę tutaj niebawem i skuszę się na lot. Wrażenia będą niezapomniane. Widoki cudowne!
